The location was amazing, just a three-minute walk to the beach, and the place was cozy and very clean. The owner was really nice and accommodating. I was traveling with two small dogs and was glad they were allowed, but check whether that’s still the case. At checkout, the owner said they might not accept dogs much longer. She seems to love dogs, but I understand the concern since you can’t know how responsible each owner is or how well behaved each dog will be. Such a great find, and we had a wonderful stay!

The best part was the location, and the weather was beautiful, so I didn’t have to spend much time in the room. Under new ownership, it’s now called Mittens flat. Room 5 wasn’t as quaint as the photos, and it felt too small for anything bigger than a small dog. It smelled like dog, the travel information and restaurant menus were at least two years old, and an uncomfortable wooden beach chair took up much of the limited space. The fridge, microwave, and coffee maker were crowded onto a small corner table. To plug in the microwave, I’d have had to move it to the floor. There wasn’t room to sit and play cards or have a drink except on the bed or floor. For $111 a night, I could easily find a better room, especially since they don’t provide coffee, sugar, or creamer. I gave two stars for the location.

Jill, the owner, was welcoming, Dawn was a gracious host, and the maintenance guy fixed the wifi with a smile. My wife and I came for an anniversary getaway just a few weeks after the reopening in Michigan, and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the place was. It’s a traditional motel without breakfast, but has a lot going for it. Everything felt new, from the tub and paint to the thoughtful setup that raised the mini fridge so you didn’t have to crawl on the floor. It was a great experience.

Each room has its own nautical or beach theme, and everything was meticulously clean. Jill and the rest of the staff were fantastic and very accommodating. It’s a block from the beach and lighthouse, making this the place to stay in Ludington. We can’t wait to visit again!

We got in after midnight because we had to leave work late, and they were able to accommodate our late arrival. The motel was cozy and clean, just 30 seconds from the water. We had an amazing stay and would definitely come back. It’s an awesome motel in a great little town for a weekend getaway. I’d give it 10 stars if I could!
