SpringHill Suites by Marriott Medford

The staff were really kind and helpful, but the pool was in awful shape. There was moss growing on it, and enough dirt had collected on the bottom that it clearly hadn't been scrubbed in a long time. The chlorine seemed high, though that didn't make up for the lack of cleaning. In our room, the trundle bed had a dirty fitted sheet. The hand soap was already unwrapped when we arrived, which bothered me less than the sheet since at least someone had washed their hands. We've stayed here before, maybe once or twice, and this visit felt like a clear drop in quality.

The room was very clean, and breakfast was great with fresh coffee available all the time. The staff made a real effort to see that I had what I needed. Michael from maintenance deserves a special mention. The GM also seemed to take a lot of pride in the hotel and in how guests are treated, though I can't remember his name. I'd recommend staying here.

We booked the larger room, which gave my family a comfortable place to relax during our road trip. It was affordable, too. This is one of the most comfortable places I've stayed, and we'll definitely come back.

The main letdown was breakfast, which is why I gave the hotel 3.5 stars. The choices felt cheap and prepackaged, with little freshness or variety. The hot items were often lukewarm or seemed overly processed. The room itself was spacious, clean, and well kept after its recent remodel. We had a separate living area, microwave, refrigerator, and comfortable bedding, so it worked well for a short or longer stay. The staff we met were friendly and professional, and check-in and checkout were easy. Looking just at the rooms and service, I'd rate it 4 or 4.5 stars.
