The biggest drawback was the long elevator waits, especially in the morning. Otherwise, this seems like a good refit of a mid-20th century hotel, downtown near the Amtrak station. The rooms are nice but not huge, and mine had a great view, though some don't. Bathrooms are large, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. There's a nice rooftop bar with an 11th floor view, plus several good local restaurants within a very short walk. It might not suit kids, but it's a great place for a night or two while visiting Meridian.

The room looked mostly clean, but several things needed attention: the sink was cracked, some outlets were loose and unreliable, and the open shower let water splash out onto the floor. The elevators were painfully slow too. Even with three in the building, we waited as long as 15 minutes in the lobby. Breakfast was disappointing enough that I only tried it once. The bigger problem was how the hotel handled my early checkout because of an emergency. I told the staff ahead of time and booked through Guest Reservations, which agreed to refund me. They tried repeatedly to reach the hotel manager, but apparently got no reply to calls or emails. They sent me daily updates, and I have proof of those, while I also emailed the hotel and heard nothing back. Whenever I called the front desk, they said manager Tasha would come in and contact me. She never did. I even started wondering whether Tasha existed at all. The silence felt extremely unprofessional and dismissive of customers.

The staff made us feel welcome and noticed the little things. After one of my relatives got a stain on his white dress shirt, the front desk helped with a room change and someone brought club soda to the room without being asked. We could usually find street parking, and there’s also a garage beside the hotel and valet service. I was especially glad to get a Presidential Suite. The views from the windows and private balcony were gorgeous, and seeing Meridian from the city’s tallest building was a treat. I also liked the historic touches they kept, including the business directory, Cutler Mail chute, ornate elevator doors, and lion head water spouts. The room was quiet, with a shower setup I loved because the handle was across from the showerhead. There were plenty of charging outlets, though some didn’t work. The LG media box could use more streaming choices, but I watched what I wanted by connecting my phone with an HDMI cable. The fitness center had more than I expected: dumbbells up to 50lbs, a cable station, two benches, treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals. I didn’t get to try 6:01 Local or The Boxcar. The Starbucks was great, with fast service and drinks made just right. My family lives near Meridian, but this was my first hotel stay there, and I’d happily come back to The Threefoot Hotel.

The hotel sits in an old part of town, and it really does feel like stepping back in time. The building is 100 years old, though the rooms themselves are only five. Downstairs, the restaurant has a small menu but the food and Sandy’s service were excellent. There’s also roof access on the 11th floor with a bar and some food.
