American Executive Inn

I left as soon as I saw the room and asked to cancel because there was no way I could stay. They refused to reimburse me. The photos don't show how bad it was: stained sheets, dried blood, graffiti on the headboard, dirty soap bars, and hair in the shower. Filthy and disgusting. One star is more than this place deserves. Don't stay here.

Don't let the name fool you. The outside looked a bit run-down but not awful, then the room was a whole different story. The bedspread looked like it had never been washed, the wrinkled sheets seemed slept in and remade, and there was dirt under them at the foot of the bed. The towels looked unclean too. The tub had rust near the drain and peeling enamel, and there were bugs, maybe fleas and roaches, though I don't think they were bed bugs. The AC was caked in dirt. It only started working after I cleaned the filter, and then it shut off after a few minutes. The window wouldn't stay closed, and a huge hole in the blinds meant people could see right into the room at night. The soap was old and crumbling, and the TV turned on but didn't work. There was no coffee or tea despite the ad saying there would be. I'm not exaggerating when I say I'd have been better off keeping my money and sleeping in my car. Calling this a dump would be generous. It's no bargain, don't stay here.

The front desk clerk was helpful and worked with us to cancel one day, but we felt so unsafe that we stayed only about two hours while we found another hotel. The drive to the venue was advertised as five minutes, but it was actually 30. Our room was dirty, and the fridge smelled like a dead body had been left in it. The replacement room had a door that wouldn't close, with big gaps all around it. There were huge holes in the walls and bathroom, and the chair was so crusty we wouldn't sit on it, let alone let my grandbabies touch it. We also found drug paraphernalia under the picnic table.

The people working there were really friendly, but the room was a mess. The sheets were the only clean thing I could find, and the pillowcases weren't. The TV didn't work, which wasn't great with my 7-year-old there. I was put in the first room by the main road. It looked like the door had been kicked in at some point and wouldn't lock, so I pushed the very nasty big chair in front of it and left it there all night.
