Super 8 by Wyndham Middletown

The hotel is in a good location, but after one night over Easter weekend we knew we wouldn’t return. It needs renovation and care. One bed in our two-bed room was comfortable and in good condition; the other looked like a biohazard. We checked for bedbugs and found none, but there was a lot of dirt on the floor and along the baseboards. The TV was upside down, facing the wrong way, and didn’t work. The night shift woman at the front desk was generally pleasant, but when we first arrived, we were greeted rudely and got sharp answers to our questions.

There are plenty of good restaurants nearby, which made the place tolerable. We were first given a room, but once staff learned we had a service dog, they moved us to a nasty, smelly room. I assume it was meant for guests traveling with dogs, but it was the dirtiest room we’ve ever stayed in.

There are restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance, and other places to visit aren’t too far away. The location is good, but the hallway carpets need cleaning, and dirty laundry and garbage shouldn’t be left there for guests to see and smell. Staff should greet people when they pass by, not only at check-in or checkout.

[Edit:] 9/16/25 The management and desk clerks are some of the nicest people I’ve met while traveling. A housekeeper found my phone charger in 133, and the front desk kept it for a couple of days. I’ve lost two chargers at fancier places that weren’t nearly as considerate. Amazing! 👍👍😃 [Original:] We’ve stayed here on several trips because it’s convenient and the price is excellent. The place may have dated decor, but the sheets, bathroom, and towels were clean. We slept soundly, and the big TV worked. The microwave rotated, which isn’t always the case in motels, and the fridge worked too. On my second stay, we had Room 135 with big, soft, cushy pillow-top mattresses. Nice and comfortable. Don’t pay attention to the grouchy reviews. If you’re too good for a decent night’s sleep, try the parking lot. Thank you!
