The Bay Willows Inn

What stood out was how much care they put into the place, right down to the plants around the parking lot. They even left handmade care packages and Dunkin Donuts gift cards for breakfast. It may look old at first and it's no Hilton, but you can feel how much they love the business. The bed was big and comfy, with soft pillows and clean sheets. The rooms are super clean and the decor is adorable, especially the cute boat-patterned bathroom curtains. The TV was tiny, though if you're here to watch TV, you're missing the point. We're coming back!

The room was very clean, and at check-in we got a welcome goody bag with water, fruit, and other snacks. The motel is fairly close to downtown and some nice beaches. The staff were the friendliest I've ever seen.

We asked to move because our room was right next to the office and we wanted more privacy. It was no problem at all. The rooms were super clean, and everyone on staff was friendly. They gave us a nice little welcome bag, and there's a restaurant and bar plus an ice cream shop within walking distance. Highly, highly recommended.

The bed was wonderful, foam and super comfortable, but I kept waking during the night because of traffic noise from the loud street. The window stays partly open for the window AC unit, since there's no central AC, and it's nailed in that position, so the car sounds came straight in. It felt too expensive for what we got, though maybe $160 a night isn't so bad for Newport, since everything there seems very expensive. We came because the reviews called the place wonderful, but I'd describe it as a typical motel, with everything outdoors and no inside hallways. There's no breakfast, though they give each person a $5 gift card for a nearby Dunkan Donuts, enough for one donut and one cup of coffee. It's an interesting place.
