Home2 Suites by Hilton Midland

We stayed one night while driving home. Parking was great, and check-in was quick, easy, and friendly. The rooms were clean, roomy, and comfortable. No complaints, and we'd stay again if we're passing through.

It’s clearly an oilfield kind of hotel, with the upsides and downsides that come with that. The staff and breakfast are great, and it’s well placed between Midland and Odessa. My upstairs room was clean, though dated, especially the bathroom. The soundproofing was decent, and I’d come back for a work trip. The gym’s small but usable.

The people here were genuinely kind and kept the shared areas clean, and the breakfast biscuits were some of the best I’ve had at a hotel. That’s the good part. Upstairs and the rooms need serious attention. The hallway smelled awful, and I can’t even pin down what the odor was. In our room the tub looked dirty, the spigot was badly rusted, and the paint on both the tub and door was bubbling. We didn’t feel okay bathing the kids there. The couch was filthy, though the pullout mattress was decent. The empty fridge smelled strange, and the mattress edges showing under the sheet were heavily stained. The sheets, pillows, and blankets themselves were clean. Someone was scrubbing the hallway carpet with a machine in the morning, which helped with that smell. It’s an old place that feels like it needs updating, but it’s also full of hardworking, kind staff doing their best. So, a mixed stay.

The showers were really dirty, and the hotel had a strong fragrance that seemed meant to cover pet odors. It wasn’t clean enough for me. I’d rather sleep in my car.
