La Quinta Inn Milford

I’d never heard of this hotel chain before and wasn’t sure about staying after reading the reviews. It turned out to be a very good visit. The room was clean, and the staff were accommodating. They managed to clean our room early when we asked on the first morning, and the next day the breakfast buffet was ready half an hour ahead of schedule, so we could eat before checking out. I’d stay here again.

Chris at the front desk was especially helpful. She went well beyond her duties to keep several guests happy, and most of the staff were nice and ready to help. The place used to be a really nice stay, but it needs upgrades now. The hallway rugs and some rooms smell, and the beds are worn out. The AC keeps blowing cold air even when it’s cold outside, and switching off the fan didn’t actually stop it.

The service was great, and everyone we met was friendly. When I called on the morning we arrived to ask about checking in early, the front desk staff member was courteous and accommodating. The building itself felt run down and wasn’t very clean, though, and it clearly needs renovation. Our overnight stay was above average, and I’d come back.

The staff made check-in and checkout easy, and the room was a decent size, clean, and nicely prepared, though the hotel has an older feel. The heating and AC unit was a bit loud. Breakfast was about what you’d expect, with little fruit danishes that I liked, plus pancakes to make and bagels to toast. The location was excellent for an overnight stay, with a supermarket across the street, Burger King and McDonalds next door, and a liquor store down the block.
