Econo Lodge Tillmans Corner

Peter welcomed us warmly, and the motel was very quiet. They're clearly working hard to get the renovated place back on track. Most of it was clean, and we had a wonderful shower. A few details need attention: the microwave was dirty, and using it blew a fuse. The area around the bottom of the toilet needs spot cleaning. All in all, we were happy. Thank you.

The website described it as newly opened, which I understood to mean a new hotel. It was actually under renovation, with building materials everywhere and a room only partly redone. It was smelly and had old carpet and fixtures, holes in the walls, exposed wires, missing fixtures with bare bulbs, and dead bugs in a bathroom that seemed not to have been cleaned in ages. I was too exhausted from traveling to complain and just needed some sleep. I certainly wouldn't have stayed a second night. I'm glad you emailed me. Please advise about some kind of refund.

The room was otherwise very clean, with a soft, clean bed and a TV that was okay and had plenty of channels. I did find one small roach when I entered. I wish the bath towels were bigger. I stayed one night and would definitely return if I'm in the Mobile area. The staff were very friendly. I travel with my dog, so it's nice to find a chain that allows pets without an extra nightly fee.

It's a great value, and I liked that pets stay at no extra cost. The staff are welcoming and seem to appreciate your business, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The parking lot is well lit, which made the place feel secure. If you're after a Hilton, keep driving, but for a comfortable stay with a great staff, this motel is terrific.
