Americas Best Value Inn Montgomery, AL

The room cost more than my stay at the Hilton last month, and this place was by far the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The door didn't lock properly, and when I went to bathe my son, I found long black hairs in the tub. I'm a redhead, so they weren't ours. The front desk woman last night was extremely rude. There was trash under the AC, the toilet paper roll was nearly empty, and the bathtubs are peeling badly enough to look nasty. Either close it down or sell it to someone who'll make major upgrades. Calling it “America's Best” is doing America a disservice. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

We checked out around midnight and found another hotel, so we didn't stay. The night worker wouldn't refund us, but offered to move us to another room. The manager told me the next morning I could talk to whoever I wanted, but I still wouldn't get a refund. We checked into room 123 without a problem, unloaded our things, and tried to settle in. It smelled like smoke, but that seemed manageable. After I'd been sitting on the bed for about an hour, I got up and saw bed bugs coming from under the pillows. We removed the blanket we'd brought and packed up. Please beware if you don't want to take bed bugs home. This place is infested.

We left immediately because we didn't want to risk a car break-in or something worse. There were cars with broken windows, and police were circling the hotel. It all felt extremely sketchy and unsafe, like a nightmare. Don't come here. We were given the wrong room, where we opened the door to find a man smoking. Who knows if someone else would be sent to our room and walk in while we were asleep. The beds didn't even have mattresses, just box springs. I can see why the place felt unsafe.

The inn itself is old, and the photos don't match what it's really like. My room smelled awful, and there were many cigarette burn marks in the bathroom even though the room was supposed to be nonsmoking. The area feels dangerous. Outside the inn there are lots of old buildings, and you need to watch out for things being thrown down from above. I can't say anything good about this place, and I don't recommend it.
