Baymont by Wyndham Montrose

The manager made us feel welcome right away, and I don't think she could have done a better job. She took my call at 7 am and invited me to come see the room after the other local hotel couldn't meet our needs. She and the young woman at the front desk both went out of their way to make us comfortable. There was renovation work just outside our room, but the workers were polite and never bothered us. The hotel also has a large indoor pool, hot tub, dry sauna, and a few pieces of exercise equipment. I'll recommend it.

I was impressed by how much had changed since I stayed here two years ago. Back then the staff were unfriendly, the place was dirty, breakfast was bare bones, and neither the pool nor hot tub was available. This time the rooms had been nicely updated, breakfast was better, coffee was available all day, and both the pool and hot tub were working. A friend in law enforcement had mentioned the new owners were turning things around after a few bad years. They seem to have done a great job. Keep it up!

The tub drained a little slowly, but that was my only complaint. The room was clean, the staff were friendly, and there was breakfast every morning. The night clerk even found ketchup packets for my granddaughter's hot dog and saved her dinner. I'd definitely recommend staying here and would come back.

The room was mostly clean and the refrigerator worked, which is why I'm giving two stars. In the morning, we tried to eat in the lobby, but it was cramped and there weren't any seats available. Check-in itself was fairly smooth because our reservation was prepaid. We were told there was no elevator and that our room was on the second floor in the back building. The side doors to both buildings were locked, so we had to walk all the way around with our bags and climb the stairs. Then the keys didn't work. We went back to the desk, and the attendant remade them and told us to try these. We'd waited five minutes at the front desk before the attendant came back from a smoke break. Someone ahead of us had also returned to get his room key redone, again.
