Hilton Garden Inn Charleston / Mt. Pleasant

Tyeshia was friendly and helpful. When I mentioned that several lights in my room weren't working, she immediately moved me to another room. I came from NY, where things move faster, while here it feels slower and more relaxed. I spent two days in Charleston, and this hotel is very close to the French quarter and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it.

I requested a date change through booking.com two days before check-in. They notified me that the hotel hadn't responded to the authorization request. When I contacted the hotel, I was told to speak to booking.com since I'd booked through them. I called booking.com again, and they said they'd sent another date-change request and noted my earlier request, made before the scheduled check-in. Despite asking to change the date before the penalty deadline, the hotel charged me a $199 no-show fee. At about 7pm on Saturday, 2/28/26, I spoke with the manager on duty, who said booking.com hadn't communicated with the hotel. I was still billed, even though I was asking to do business with them the following weekend. I got angry after being sent back and forth, and the manager hung up on me. With all that runaround, I won't try booking with booking.com or this location again, now or in the future. Keeping my money for a no-show after I requested a change days ahead, instead of updating the booking and earning future business, was short-sighted. The customer service was poor, and the staff need better training.

The room was quiet, everything worked, and we had a great view. We stayed one night in a spacious king suite this week, and it was extremely clean. Staff were courteous and helpful, and there was lots to do nearby. The location was great, and the price was in line with the room. We'd definitely stay again.

The room was nice, but customer service was terrible. I called ahead to say we'd arrive late, around midnight. After the drive, we found the front desk staff cleaning lobby tables and not even greeting us. I waited for a couple of hard keys, but she kept wiping tables and said she'd be with us in a few minutes. That's the last thing you want after driving all night. Once in the room, the toilet wouldn't flush and there was no body wash in the shower. I asked for a late checkout and was told none was available. Gold Rewards members should always be able to get a late checkout. Management needs to do better here.
