What a great team, from the people caring for the grounds and housekeeping to the front desk and management. Everyone was lovely, smiling, and worked well together. The price fit my budget, and it was a great base for relaxing by the beach and enjoying the city and nearby area. One of the best!

The people here are so warm and helpful, and that customer service is hard to find. The staff make you feel welcome, and the rooms have comfortable chairs and beds. It's pet friendly, which was a real bonus, and seemed to have some of the lowest pet costs around. The location is a big plus, close to downtown. The hotel has been remodeled, but the building still has an older Art Deco look, maybe from the 1980s or later, and some things don't fit together perfectly. I can understand that with a place that's gone through different periods of remodeling. I hope it gets bigger suites with future updates. For now, come enjoy this classic hotel and bring your pet or pets. Please arrive with a smile and let the staff make your stay memorable. The brand feels like a good fit for the Charleston area.

We left the next night for a better hotel. My wife had made the reservation, and when I tried to check in, the desk clerk wouldn't let me without her there. We finally sorted it out by calling her while she was with her mother in hospice. I was too exhausted by the family emergency, with her mother dying, to complain about the room. Room 105 was dirty, worn, and smelled of mildew. It was on the ground floor at the back, the bathroom walls were crumbling, and the rusted bathroom door wouldn't close. Red Roof has been our usual choice for years because we travel with dogs, but after two stays with the same filthy problems, we're done and will go elsewhere.

I've traveled with my family for years for my son's soccer games in different states, but this was the worst hotel stay I've had. Room 204 was filthy. My white socks turned black when I took my shoes off, the bathtub had rust, the air felt thick with grime, and the carpets were terribly dirty. An old or outdated hotel wouldn't bother me, but cleanliness matters. On top of the rate I'd already paid in full, they charged a $50 deposit. That was outrageous.
