Super 8 Mt Vernon

The staff I dealt with on both visits were rude and confrontational. Outside, the property was covered with trash and cigarette butts, even though there were no smoking signs and a designated smoking area. The whole front of the building smelled like an old ashtray, and the smell continued inside. I came in on 6/21/25 to ask about a travel nurse rate. The desk clerk quoted one, and I explained I worked night shifts and would arrive at 0700. She said that was fine. When I came in this morning, the employee told me there'd be a $40 early check-in fee each time and then said no room was available. I canceled my reservation and left.

The staff were easily the best part, always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I had a clean room, though the hotel is old and has no elevator. The sink drained slowly, and the toilet clogged with very little use, so the pipes may need attention. They advertise breakfast, but I didn't see any on either day. There was coffee, at least. It wasn't a bad place for a couple of nights while going to Inkcarceration in Mansfield.

Breakfast was simple and tasty. The staff were great, and my room was clean, warm, and cozy.

The shower pressure was barely there, more of a soft sprinkle than the strong spray you get at most hotels, so I wasn't impressed. The bathroom paint job looked really sloppy. For the amenities provided, the price felt much too high. None of it left me impressed.
