Days Inn by Wyndham Nanuet / Spring Valley

The whole place was filthy and worn, and there was a strong mothball smell in both the office and the room. I booked a room, but after seeing it I refused to stay. If I could give the cleanliness and rooms zero stars, I would. I've never thought of Days Inn as one of the better hotels, but I'm surprised they'd put their name on this place. The only use I can see is as a place for the welfare department to house clients, though I think it could cause more problems for homeless people.

At 4 a.m., a serious leak or clog flooded my room. I used the towels there to try to soak up the water and limit the damage, but the area stayed damp and smelled awful. When I called the desk, I was told maintenance wouldn't arrive until 8:30 or 9, and that I'd have to come down if I wanted more towels. The room had smelled musty as soon as I entered, though at first I thought it was just because it had been closed up. The whole situation made the stay very uncomfortable and fell far below what I expected. Please look into this and let me know about compensation or a refund for the trouble. I posted a review earlier, but can't find it now and don't know what happened to it.

The beds and linens were spotless, and we found a comfortable, safe place within our budget, so the drawbacks didn't bother me too much. We paid around $150-160 a night for the weekend, compared with $200-300 elsewhere, and got free coffee, juice, and a breakfast item each day. We needed an affordable hotel in October within half an hour of Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown, which gets extremely busy then. The location was convenient for food, gas, and shopping, and the exterior and parking lot were well lit. It was quiet, though traffic could still be heard even from the back lot. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the new big-screen TV was a plus. The business suite's dated furniture and lights showed their age, and some lights and outlets didn't work. The tub jets were out, and getting into the tub meant a big step, though there was a wall handle. It could also have used a deeper clean around the outlet covers, lampshades, chair upholstery, and grout. I usually choose Days Inn Wyndham and haven't been disappointed before.

The room was dirty, with toenail clippings left on the floor, and the water pressure was so poor I couldn't shower. The door barely latched shut. This place looked nothing like its pictures. Wyndham should be embarrassed to have its name on it. Joe's apartment would've been a better choice.
