Glenrose Motel

It was okay, nothing special. There’s a convenience store and beauty supply shop across the street. The store is open 24/7 and lets you order breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food isn’t too bad either. It was fine for someone looking for a little peace of mind.

This used to be a nice place, but I cut my trip short this weekend after I started itching. They ask how many guests are coming, I guess to charge more, which I understand. But the room smelled like an ashtray, so I worried someone might come out from under the bed and checked. There were cigarette butts and lots of plastic left by whoever had stayed before me. The covers had cigarette holes, and the shower knob was broken. I ended up buying Lysol at CVS and spraying the covers so I could sleep on top of them. If you don’t mind sleeping under dirty covers, this is the place for you. I won’t be back.

Of all the motels toward the lower part of Chef Highway, this has to be the best one I’ve stayed at. The front desk people were very nice, the bathroom was clean, and there were good TV channels with no static. No bed bugs, either.

It is what it is. The bedclothes had burn holes, the floor was filthy, and everything was propped up with wood scraps. Still, it gave me somewhere to be for a couple of hours instead of sitting in the car.
