Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Downtown East

The staff were friendly and professional, and check-in was quick and smooth. Breakfast was fresh, with a good range of options. Public transportation is easy to reach, and many attractions are nearby. I found it good value and would definitely return. My room at Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Manhattan/Downtown East was quiet, clean and well maintained, with a comfortable bed and useful amenities. It was a great place to relax after a long day in the city.

I've stayed at this hotel more than anywhere else in NYC. It's not the nicest, but whenever I check prices, this one wins. A room with two Queen beds has been $200 a night. The location is what I love: lots of restaurants within easy walking distance for early or late meals, and the subway is a couple of blocks away. After a long day sightseeing, there are also several places nearby for a massage before bed. If all you need is somewhere clean to rest, Fairfield Inn is perfect.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast had enough variety that you'd need a week to get bored. Rooms are spacious, with a big bathroom, small fridge, microwave, large TV and desk. Ours had a nice view of the Manhattan bridge, though the subway crossing it was noisy, and even earplugs didn't make it easy to get used to. The elevator mechanism is also very loud, so try for a lower floor. Keep in mind there's a $50 deposit per day, charged without warning even if you've paid everything before arrival. Rooms are cleaned only every second day. The location is good, close to the subway, Chinatown and local shops.

I've returned to this Fairfield Inn several times, and the staff are why every visit has been so consistently good. Shawn made this stay especially welcoming, being incredibly friendly and accommodating and going out of their way to make sure everything was handled. Luly was wonderful too, so kind and helpful, and clearly cares about guests enjoying their stay. It's rare to find staff who are this warm and attentive every time. A huge thank you to Shawn and Luly.
