New York Marriott East Side

The conference was interrupted by a false fire alarm on the second day, but otherwise I had a good experience. The hotel was easy to find and beautifully decorated. When I first arrived looking for the conference, I was running late, so I didn't dwell on the receptionist giving me a rude look and asking what I needed in a nasty way. Over the next three days, the staff were all really nice and helpful.

We had three rooms for our large family group, and they were all great. The elite-member breakfast was wonderful, and the lobby lounge was a nice place to relax and have drinks by the fireplace. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located for cabs and within walking distance of many popular sights. Highly recommend it.

The shower pressure was superb, and as others have said, the beds are extremely comfortable. My room was very clean and generally in good condition, though the shower didn't drain well. There were also some odd marks on the shower curtain that made me wonder how well it gets cleaned. Staff were very attentive when I went to them for help.

The room layouts are a bit tight, but housekeeping was personable and above average. Staff were courteous, with helpful people at the desk and a good concierge. Security surveillance was very good. Public meeting spaces are well maintained and work for many kinds of functions, and the public washrooms were clean and cared for. The bar and breakfast baked goods were good. Nice experience at this midtown Manhattan Marriott.
