It’s an old hotel on Queens Boulevard, in a good part of Queens. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are restaurants and a few stores within walking distance, and it’s easy to get around by public transportation.

There’s a club nearby, and the noise on Saturday nights goes on until 4am. If you’re a light sleeper, don’t stay here. The restaurant downstairs wasn’t worth it either, it was overpriced and the food wasn’t even passable. The place is cheap and reasonably priced compared with other options, with a subway about a 10-minute brisk walk away. It’s fine if all you need is an inexpensive bed for the night.

I couldn’t sleep because the room was boiling hot, and the floors bounce from the nightclub next door. I had to leave the window open just to keep the temperature livable. I finally got out of bed near noon, then found myself choosing between a stained towel and one with a big hole after a shower with lots of different colored lights. I put the do not disturb sign on the door because I’d slept late. The maids kept randomly opening it anyway, then argued that they needed to service the room. I’d call the front desk to complain, but the phone in my room doesn’t work. Everything you can think of that could be wrong with a hotel is wrong with this one. If it got any worse, it would just be rubble.

The location was good, and parking was free. POP restaurant next to the hotel also deserves a star, its brunch was the best I had during my stay in the USA. The hotel itself was not bad, but it’s very old. The bathroom wasn’t clean, and there was hair left by previous guests. Internet in the room costs an extra $7.

I was in the area and desperately needed to pee, almost to the point of wetting myself. I begged the men at the front to let me use the bathroom for literally one minute, but they said I wasn’t allowed. They showed no common decency toward me, a fellow human being. Making someone wet themselves instead of letting them use a bathroom is just plain wrong. It’s deeply disappointing and upsetting that someone would treat another person that way. I understand it’s a shelter, not a hotel. That makes this feel even more ironic, because a shelter should be a place where people care for others in some way. I’d give zero stars if I could. I wasn’t treated humanely.
