The location and area are familiar to me, so I had been considering coming back, but after this stay I'm not sure. I booked ahead and saved money on a premium room because of the bedding and space. I expected more help and information for what I paid. The attendant didn't give me the Wi-Fi password, even though there was a place for it on the card, and didn't tell me when breakfast was served. I had to ask the next shift where to get ice. I was given just one key, despite saying another guest was coming, and the attendant was on the phone when I went downstairs to ask about Wi-Fi. The TV remote barely worked, even after several presses, and there was no bedside light. I had to use the bathroom light or leave the TV on. In the morning, my husband found the shower water cold and the pressure very low. I called down, gave the room number, and the man questioned me as if I might be making up the lack of hot water. He said a technician would check it. After about 15 minutes, the water was hot, but it was hard to enjoy a proper shower. I emailed the property manager because I felt compensation was due. This was unacceptable, especially since I had been thinking about returning. When I arrived, the attendant seemed nice, though she compared what I'd paid with the price they had and I explained I'd booked ahead. Everything about the bedding looked okay. I know hotel reviews include good and bad, and I'd read them but decided to book anyway. I hope the reviews help the hotel improve. Rooms need to be inspected to make sure everything works, not just cleaned. A good shower matters to people starting the day. I've stayed at plenty of other hotels where a manager quickly fixes a problem, apologizes, and compensates for the trouble. That's how you keep customers. This was really disappointing.
For $140, I got a room that was small but nice enough for one night, with a very comfortable bed and a great bathroom. Check-in was quick and easy, and the location was perfect. The only problem was that the TV showed no channels. When I called the front desk, the guy spoke to me as though I didn't know how to use a TV. Aside from that, everything was great.
We were in a good spot for the show at Kings Theater, and the stay was better than I expected, adequate for what we needed. The neighborhood felt a little sketchy at night. The rooms were small but clean, and the beds were comfortable. There was late-night noise in the hall and weed smell coming into the room. With what seemed to be just one person at the front desk, we didn't think complaining would help much. Bedside lighting would also make a difference. It looked like wall sconces might have been planned, but they weren't there yet. The overhead light was harsh, and finding its switch in the dark was awkward if you got up during the night.
The room could have been cleaned more carefully. I noticed hairs, stains, and debris on the floor, and the room itself was small. Street parking was limited and felt unsafe, and there was no secure garage. Other guests were smoking on the property, so the smell lingered in our room. We asked, and staff quickly brought up air freshener to use, which we appreciated. On the plus side, the towels and bedding seemed very clean, and the A/C and heater worked efficiently. Customer service was fast and capable. Staff answered my questions and fixed my problems within minutes of a call. I'd stay here again only for events at Kings Theatre across the street.
A good option if you need a bed and a hot shower near King Theatre. Rates were reasonable, the Beverly subway stops were an okay walk away, and there were plenty of food choices nearby. The location worked well for my stay. The room and bathroom were clean, the AC worked great, and the shower was hot. At this price, the rooms are smaller and the services match the rate. I would've liked a light by the bed, on the nightstand or wall, instead of just the overhead one. Having to cross the room to switch it off and then find my way back to bed in the dark was a minor hassle. Still, it was a good stay.
