Super 8 by Wyndham Bronx Near Botanical Garden

I was there for two days, and there was no breakfast either morning. There isn't any parking, either. The ice machine didn't work, one of the room window locks was broken, and the bathroom lock didn't work. They wouldn't move me to another room. Marijuana smell filled the hallways and came almost into our room. The person working nights was unprofessional and spoke to me rudely. I booked this hotel by mistake, and it was a very bad experience. I won't make that mistake again.

I stayed a full week during a visit to the Bronx last week and came away very pleased. It was nice for the price, and I hope to stay again when I'm back. Management were friendly and checked that I was comfortable and that everything was all right. The two ladies who cleaned my room did a great job. I wish I'd gotten their names, but I did tell them how much I appreciated it. I'm particular about my things, and they treated my belongings respectfully. I like my privacy, and they didn't disturb me. A smoking room would've been my preference, but it wasn't a big deal, and I actually smoked less. Different toilet paper and better cable would've improved things. Still, I really enjoyed the stay and wanted to write a positive review because I've learned reviews can help. Pay extra and stay in NYC. We arrived by subway, and as soon as we got onto the street, I booked an Uber for the three-minute ride to the hotel because the area felt uncertain and unsafe. The main doors were wide open to anyone coming in off the street. The lobby felt abandoned, and the only staff member I saw was one man checking us in. I didn't see any other guests or staff, and I felt even less welcome and safe. The view from the room window was awful, and the bathroom was dated, which surprised me because I thought this was a new place. I went straight back downstairs and told the employee I was booking somewhere else because I didn't feel safe. He said, “ok alright you still payin for it though.” We left and took the subway to midtown NYC, where I finally felt the stress lift. My family and I felt terribly unsafe and had to leave, yet we were still charged. Wyndham should be ashamed to have this as one of its properties. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I work in Law Enforcement/Sheriff and travel often, and I've never felt so out of place or unsafe. If I could leave zero stars, I would.

The hotel is clean, nice, and newly built, and the price was good for a new place. Staff were very nice and I had no issues or complaints. There's no parking, and breakfast isn't included, but I still had a great stay.
