We paid more than $345 for one night, and I expected much better. I wouldn’t choose The Brooklyn again. Clean rooms, basic supplies, and staff who respond to problems should be the minimum, even if hotels sometimes have issues. I was stranded in New York overnight on June 8, 2026, after a flight delay, and just needed somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep. Instead, the floor was visibly dirty when we arrived, there were no towels, and the toilet made a loud, high-pitched noise all night. We ended up shutting off the water ourselves just to get some sleep. The problems weren’t fixed, and the property’s upkeep and cleanliness left me concerned. There was even trash visible on the lobby floor. The lack of help was the most disappointing part. I wish I’d taken more pictures because this was unacceptable.

Having a roomy suite at a reasonable price was the best part for us. There was space for our suitcases and to hang out with our son, who lives nearby. Suite 201 was spacious, comfortable, and matched the hotel website photos. The bed and pillows were good, and there were lots of places to sit: a couch, three chairs, and three round ottomans. We could walk to our son’s place, shops, restaurants, and more, and we felt safe the whole time. The neighborhood is fine, though, as you’d expect in the city, there are all kinds of people, sounds, smells, and some litter. The common area is beautiful and looks like the site, but they don’t serve food or drinks there. Staff were friendly. The suite was decently clean, with a few minor age or maintenance issues, including a bathroom plug that didn’t work. The walls are thin, so we sometimes heard neighbors beside or above us. At night our portable white noise machine took care of that.

I travel constantly, and this was the worst hotel stay I’ve had. I was put in a basement room on floor -1 with no natural light, filthy bedding, a horrible smell, and a cleaning service area right beside it. They charged full price for a room that felt more like a storage closet. I complained at the front desk right away. The receptionist was one of the rudest people I’ve met in hospitality: no apology, no fix, and a flat refusal to process a refund through Booking.com. The rooms are outdated, service was nonexistent, and management clearly didn’t care about guests. This place should be shut down. I wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone. Do not book here.

The room itself made this stay unpleasant. The couch was so filthy that we didn’t feel comfortable sitting on it, and there seemed to be mold around the bathroom corners and lining. When we showered, water rose and flooded instead of draining properly. I’d stayed at the Brooklyn Hotel in June last year and had a much better visit, so I recommended it to my friend who came from Arizona. I was embarrassed by how this stay turned out. We were there from Saturday to Sunday in Room 207. My friend paid an extra $50 for early check-in, but we still had no washcloths when we arrived. When I asked staff for some and how long they’d take, I was told 45 minutes. Before I could ask anything else, the staff member suggested we use a large towel instead, which wasn’t acceptable. The hotel’s condition and poor service fell far below what I expected.

We chose another hotel in Park Slope for the same nights and gave up about $600 we’d prepaid through Booking.com rather than stay here. The door to our assigned room had clearly been broken into: the deadbolt was broken, and part of it was still attached. Management hadn’t even removed the broken piece, let alone repaired the lock. This felt like the most unsafe hotel imaginable. Most of the posted photos look fake to me. I posted two of my own, one showing the front and one of our broken door after I removed the broken deadbolt lock.
