The Essence Hotel AT JFK

The beds were dirty and stained, and the concierge was rude and barely communicated in English. After I was put on the 5th floor with three large suitcases, the lift stopped working about an hour after check-in. I had to carry every case down the stairs myself. This was an appalling experience, and I really wouldn't recommend the place.

The rooms are a decent size and the hotel is clean. It's convenient for getting around, with the E, F, and J trains and the LIRR all within walking distance. There are also plenty of places to eat nearby.

I arrived from Germany at 10pm, and when my ride couldn't pick me up, I was too tired to arrange another one. It was getting late, so I booked a room here, and it turned out great. The owner and employees were really nice and helpful. My room was very nice, clean, with a comfortable bed and bath supplies. They even gave me a breakfast bag to take along. You can tell they put effort into the place. It's a very good AFFORDABLE place to stay, and I'd recommend it. The only downside was construction outside during my stay, but that's city life and wasn't their fault. Five stars!

I was checking in around 3 am with my 9 month daughter, and the guy was rude and made us wait over a booking issue. Then we got to the room and saw these towels. At 11 am, I was trying to leave, but she wouldn't give me a towel, even though I should have had one from the start. She said I had to pay 20$ to check out late, but I was delayed because I didn't have a basic towel to wash up with. These people are weird, and I'm irritated. How am I supposed to wash myself, and why charge me for something I should have had from jump?
