Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott

The food in the hotel restaurant was very tasty when my wife and I tried it later that evening. We stayed at the Marriott at Newark Airport in November 2025 and were impressed. There had been a mixup with our travel reservation, and the hotel manager worked with the travel agent to sort it out quickly. She handled a difficult conversation with exceptional professionalism. The rooms are spacious by New York City standards, though the walls were thinner than we expected. We’d happily stay again.

We had a comfortable stay at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott. The rooms are generally solid, with good beds and enough quiet to get some rest despite being near planes. They’re a good place to shower, sleep, and wake up feeling human. Just know that not every room has extras like a microwave or mini fridge, so plan ahead if you need a late-night snack. The hotel is on airport grounds, handy for early flights, late arrivals, or getting rebooked after an airline mess. It feels close and safe without the planes seeming right overhead. For terminals, you need the shuttle rather than walking. Waiting with your suitcase can test your patience, but it gets you there. There’s food on-site and room to sit, charge your phone, and regroup when you have time to kill. It’s a straightforward place to eat, rest, and recover, not a weekend executive lounge. The lobby has a steady airport crowd of crews, business travelers, families, and people who’ve been delayed. The Marriott feel is clean, professional, reliable, and a little corporate, which can be comforting when you need things to work. It’s useful for avoiding a very early drive or a sleepy trip home after a late landing. It can also work as a neutral meeting place for Shidduch or family travel logistics. It’s not fancy, but it’s convenient and dependable, and that makes Newark less chaotic. Airport chashivus. Sometimes EWR has enough drama of its own.

There’s nowhere nearby to pass the time before a flight, and Uber Eats isn’t available in the area. I’d pick somewhere more urban next time. Although the hotel is close to the airport, you still need a shuttle since there’s no walking route. Some employees were friendly, but the person who checked me in didn’t make eye contact and sounded impatient. The facilities feel like a three-star hotel’s, with aging, broken fixtures: some lobby doors don’t work, and the shower leaks.

The room was fine for a quick overnight before an early flight, but it didn’t feel worth the price, more like a Best Western in disguise. The lobby is gorgeous, and the check-in staff were very friendly. Getting there by shuttle was less pleasant: I waited in the cold and wind, and the live map wasn’t working, so I couldn’t tell where the bus was. There’s only one restaurant on site, and airport traffic makes Uber Eats or DoorDash delivery a hassle. I splurged on a room-service burger, though, and it was fantastic, a 10 out of 10. The fries were decent, around an 8 out of 10, and the bag came with everything needed. The location is convenient, but for what it costs, I might stay farther away and use a rideshare instead. It could save money without making the trip too difficult.
