Wyndham Garden Newark/Fremont Silicon Valley

The location was pretty good, and I'd definitely come back. Staff were nice and upgraded me to a suite, which was worth it. The room was spacious, though one of the TVs in front of the bed had sound but no picture, a bummer if you wanted to watch from there. There was another TV in the tiny living room. The pool and gym were great, but the gym had no wipes for cleaning the machines. The laundry room was small but decent. Breakfast wasn't the best; it ends at 9 a.m., and by then everything was gone. The store by the front desk was another letdown, with only beverages and nothing else.

The breakfast was decent. There's no mini fridge in the room, so don't count on keeping groceries or leftovers cold, and the pool was so dirty it looked almost abandoned. At check-in they said it was open, and since it was a little warm in early January I thought I might dip my feet while reading. But it looked nasty when I went down to check it out. I wish I'd taken a photo, though I'd left my phone in the room. If it's that dirty, why say the pool is an open amenity when it really isn't? Everything else is great.

The hotel charged me a $50 deposit and still hasn't returned it. I've contacted them several times, but they haven't taken responsibility or given me a clear explanation. I also checked with my bank, and they confirmed the hotel hasn't sent a refund. With this issue unresolved and no accountability, I wouldn't recommend the property. I hope management improves its customer service and is more transparent about deposit refunds.

The hotel is under renovation, the toilet has very poor water pressure, and the service has been completely unreliable. The agent I spoke with earlier contacted the hotel, and they promised to have everything fixed before I arrived. But when I got there, no one was at the front desk and nothing had been taken care of. The room was nothing like the photos. There was no refrigerator, which I urgently need as a breastfeeding mom to store my milk. The Wi-Fi didn't work, there was no luggage rack, and even basic things you'd expect at a motel were missing. I'm paying for tonight, but I'm checking out tomorrow because I don't want to stay here any longer. Very disappointing. I don't recommend this hotel.
