If you're tired from a long drive, keep going. I stayed after driving five hours from another state and working, hoping for a shower and rest. People were loitering in the lot, kids were running around, and there was partying and talking on the stairs and in the parking lot all night. I was exhausted and let it go at first. The owners were rude and, in my view, scammers who claim to speak little English while scamming people. The TV was broken when I arrived, and I have pictures. Under the dirty top blanket, I found two bed bugs. There was no help at the desk. For $78, I thought I'd take the loss, sit in the tattered chair since I couldn't sleep in the bed, and leave in the morning. I didn't ask for a refund or credit. At 11 a.m. I asked the front lobby for a clean towel and washcloth because the ones in the room were dirty, and told her about the bugs and TV. I just wanted to shower and go. The owner refused towels, came into my room saying they wouldn't provide any, denied seeing bed bugs, and somehow blamed me for breaking the TV. She said she was calling the police, so I waited, though nothing criminal was happening. I believe they disregarded my complaints and tried to swindle me for damage to a run-down property. I'll follow through with my BBB complaint and small claim for my $78. At this point it's the principle, and I have time. I should have used my Choice rewards as usual and booked online. This is a slum dump, and I wouldn't stay here again.

It seemed nice at first, but as the stay went on there was an unmistakable stench in the air. Eventually it got so bad that my cat was crying. She's the queen, so I left. My cat told me she didn't like the place and to leave a bad review. Here's proof she was crying.

The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful, and the area was quiet. The room was basic but fine for the price. We wiped mold off the bottom of some furniture. Maybe it was because they don't run the heat or air when rooms are vacant. The white LED lights in the room were a bit harsh.

I was in a bind late at night after deciding to stay an extra day in Virginia Beach, and all the other hotels were booked, so I ended up driving four hours home. When I arrived, there was a giant dead roach in the room. It was so big I spotted it from across the room right away. I didn't stay, and that was all I could take in about the room. I showed the desk clerk a photo and politely asked for a refund. She called it a water beetle because it had been humid, and repeated that three times. I told her I knew what a water beetle looked like and this was definitely a huge cockroach. She offered another room, at first implying I wouldn't get a refund. My girlfriend finally said we needed our money back, and after I stormed out of the lobby in frustration, the clerk refunded us. Accidents happen, but the other reviews make it seem like this may not be a one-off. I'm glad that dead roach warned me before I had crawlers on or around me in bed.

The room was about what I'd expected for the cheapest option on a sudden, strict budget: old furniture, an outdated TV, and blanket patterns like a flea market nightmare. The trouble started when I couldn't log into the WiFi, which I really needed for most of my laptop work. The TV turned on, but I couldn't change the channel. I tried calling the front desk to say I was coming down, but the phone had been ripped off the wall and was broken. My patience was wearing thin. I went to the bathroom hoping at least that would be okay, and found three water bugs. I told the manager at the front desk about all of it. He just said, "Yeah, water bugs. I will get you a new room." Beggars can't be choosers, but can we at least have a clean room?
