The location on Thames makes getting around Newport on foot simple, and we can’t wait to stay again. The historic Francis Malbone House has a dreamy courtyard, a grand entry staircase, oil paintings, and thoughtfully chosen decor. Breakfast, made by the in-house chef, was fresh and flavorful, with two main choices, fruit, a parfait bar, and coffee, tea, or juice. Afternoon tea came with coffee and tea options, delicate puff pastries, and other sweets. Our cozy room had a comfortable bed, fresh linens, a spacious bathroom, and plenty of closet and storage space. The innkeepers made us feel at home and were happy to help or offer suggestions. Sue was a delight at breakfast and even helped me button my dress before an evening out.

I needed a night away to reset, and this was just right. The downtown location is convenient, yet the inn felt quiet and tucked away, with none of the busy big-hotel atmosphere. My room was cozy, comfortable, and spotless. Breakfast, tea, and snacks were nice extras, and breakfast was fantastic. The friendly staff gave me a little tour and were incredibly helpful. Parking is included, too. The whole place felt calm and well cared for. I’d absolutely come back.

Staying here feels like a warm hug, followed by champagne and delicious cookies. The rooms are elegant, quiet, and charming, the location is superb, and the off-street parking helps a lot. Everyone was fantastic, from the front desk team to Sue, who takes care of breakfast, and the cleaning staff. Can’t recommend FMH enough.

We spent three nights at the Francis Malbone for the first time and absolutely loved it. The room, service, breakfasts, and location were all fantastic, but most of all we loved the people. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Sue was an absolute gem serving breakfast. We felt like friends in the short time we were there. We’ll definitely be back.

The Newport room’s fireplace and tub were exceptional. We also enjoyed the afternoon tea, and breakfast was more than we expected. The location was great, and the friendly staff were professional and personable. The stay surpassed expectations.
