Homewood Suites by Hilton North Charleston

Between the airport and traffic, it was noisy, and customer service was poor. The floors looked dingy, a lamp didn’t work when we arrived, and the TV stopped working. The room wasn’t worth what we paid. There were extra charges too: $6 for parking added to the room, plus a resort fee and taxes. You had to walk outside to reach the gym, and the pool was just okay, without the wow factor of other Homewood Suites we’ve tried. I wouldn’t recommend it. Choose somewhere else, like the Embassy or Crown Plaza.

For a quick trip with family, I’d book here again. We came for an urgent medical appointment with my child, and the hot, fresh, delicious breakfast and friendly greetings from guests and staff helped us feel comfortable and safe inside. The room was spacious with a great layout, updated kitchen appliances and a modern stovetop. Bedding, kitchen, and bathroom were clean enough for my standards, the Keurig worked perfectly for tea, and our requested digital key was approved before arrival. The temperature was comfortable even with 29 degrees outside. It was quiet aside from occasional doors closing. Parking was easy to register with visible QR code signs, and $16 a night felt like a small fee compared with the $40-60 many major cities charge for property parking. The location is right off the interstate, so traffic was heavy and a little confusing, and the area felt sketchy. I was glad to get a space near the main entrance and waited in my vehicle until parking registration was done. The carpet needs replacing soon, it’s outdated and torn in spots, and the bed was firmer than I like. There’s little bathroom privacy: the shower was a good size, but I’m not a fan of having the toilet next to the bathing area, and the door left little room to dress or undress. For a solo trip, this wouldn’t be my first choice based on location, but with family and Hilton, definitely.

The hotel is right behind a Waffle House and Taco Bell, both easy to walk to. Breakfast was better than at most Homewood Suites I’ve visited, with a waffle maker, hot dishes, cereal, fresh juices, bottled milk, bagels, and more. We had a great stay.

At around 9:45am this morning (2/22/26), I came back from a quick store run and stopped for breakfast in the lobby. A front desk team member asked, “Are you a guest here? What’s your room number?” I’m a Hilton Gold Member and frequent traveler, and what bothered me was that she had watched me get off the elevator and leave earlier, yet questioned me on my return. Other guests were also coming and going to get breakfast without her saying anything. I’ve stuck with Hilton for the service and accommodations I’ve always had, but after this interaction I’m seriously considering canceling my membership and taking my business elsewhere.
