The lobby music was loud enough to hear in our room, 207, even though it wasn’t over the lobby. When we asked about turning it down, the desk said they couldn’t and suggested using the AC to cover it. The room was already cold, so we ended up listening to music that sounded like it was right outside our window all night. The bathroom was also dirty when we arrived, with brown streaks on the toilet and shower. We were told it was too late to clean, so we used the lobby restroom and planned to sort it out in the morning. Staff apologized and said they’d clean it while we were out, but it was still dirty when we returned that night. Someone came up then, but only wiped the outside of the toilet seat, leaving the mess on the front and inside the bowl. It may sound minor, but it left us wondering what else hadn’t been cleaned and made us uncomfortable. The lack of effort to address either concern means I wouldn’t come back.

Just one night for me, so take that into account. The price worked well for what I needed, and check-in and check-out were quick. The evening receptionist was friendly and helpful. My bed was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was mostly clean too, though the shower base had what looked like stains from an old mat.

The area was quiet, though there wasn’t really anywhere I could comfortably walk to. The staff were welcoming, and my room was roomy and clean. It’s an older building, but they’ve done a decent job keeping it fresh. The bathtub had a stain and could use replacing, though everything was clean.

The beds were so comfortable, and the whole hotel felt clean and easy to relax in. Breakfast was tasty and kept well stocked, and the staff were friendly throughout our stay while we were in town for my daughter’s College of Charleston visit. There are several hotels around here that look similarly nice, but some less appealing properties sit right beside them, with a bit of sketchy activity around those places. I still felt safe and comfortable at this hotel. Staff mentioned casually that the front doors lock at 9pm, which I suspect helps keep unwanted guests out.
