Ogunquit Tides Resort

That walk down to the water was lovely, and the location worked so well for us. We liked the room too, though the floor left our feet black, so I wonder how much cleaning happens between guests. The paint work was rough in a lot of places, but we can live with that. I'd come back.

The floors were so dirty that I was horrified when I saw my feet after walking from the bathroom to the bed. We were glad we'd brought our own blankets, since the bedding and towels didn't smell fresh and there was sand or black debris in the bed. The windows were dirty, some were missing screens, and the bed platform was noisy. The place has been updated sometime in the last five years, but cleanliness and customer service seemed badly neglected. When we called the front desk in the morning, they sent up a very soiled spray mop, with excuses and no apology. They didn't seem to understand why we were upset or what basic cleanliness and customer service meant. We were furious by then. We contacted our credit card company to dispute the charge and expected to get our money back. Since it was the off season, we found much better accommodation for only a little more. Ogunquit Tides has a view of the water inlet, but that isn't worth staying here. Other guests told us they'd had the same experience and said that if you complain, they kick you out. At our new place, I walked barefoot across the parking lot after a sauna, and my feet were cleaner than they had been going from the shower to the bed here. I found Ogunquit tides' website and called them directly. Somehow I was told I hadn't booked with them, even though the email came from reservation desk. I'm not sure what kind of scam is going on, so beware. Update: I'm still fighting this place for a refund. After years of visiting different hotels in Ogunquit, we finally stayed here and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely grounds and how clean and spacious the rooms were. Getting to both the beach and downtown is easy from this spot. The outdoor pool is gorgeous and Olympic-sized, and there's an indoor pool as well. I highly recommend it and expect we'll stay here again.

We stayed a week and left today. The staff did a great job keeping our room clean, and when I asked for a fan after arriving, they found one for me. The room was spacious and the location was good. The shower had excellent pressure. There's a complimentary breakfast, quite basic, but handy for a quick bite. We didn't use the indoor pool much; the first time we tried, it felt a bit too cold, especially for a cooler-day activity, though it was refreshing when we did swim.
