The Colonial Inn

We were close to shops, great restaurants, and the beautiful Marginal Way, and the main building had plenty of charm. Our room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was a nice free perk. The property itself was lovely, but the especially friendly, helpful staff made our stay feel special. They really went above and beyond. We’ll definitely come back.

The historic building makes for a great hotel, and our room was comfortable and clean. The front desk receptionist was friendly, though end-of-season closures meant they couldn’t help with restaurant suggestions. Check-in and checkout were easy, and there were great amenities available.

I’m sad to say we won’t be returning to the Colonial Inn. We’ve stayed there many times over the years and always enjoyed it, but the Inn was in terrible shape on this last visit. The rugs throughout were stained and disgusting, the window screens in our room were torn, and the shower had mold. Bugs were inside every light fixture, and there was dust everywhere. Even the towels were a dingy gray. The front desk staff were personable, but very slow, and I noticed many of them on their cell phones. The pool and jacuzzi were deplorable, and I’m not sure how anyone could use them. It’s a shame to see a once-beautiful Inn decline like this. I hope they clean it up and renovate.

The Anchorage was in very good condition, and the fire pits were blazing despite the chilly weather. Our yearly Ogunquit trip was a pleasure. See you next year!
