Red Carpet Motel

The room was filthy, with trash piled up like a landfill. There were broken bikes out back, graffiti all over the walls, and the doors to the rooms felt flimsy. After I checked in and carried my things over from the car, I went to get food for about 30 minutes. When I came back, a card key fell from the crack in the door as I opened it. Someone had tried to break in. That left me feeling unsafe, and when I went to the office, the man argued that it was impossible. I asked him to call the person who had been translating, and he kept arguing before offering to move me to another room. There were only about 10 rooms on the property, all facing the same way, so that didn't seem helpful. I gave up and called Expedia. I was willing to pay for the one night I'd checked in, and they refunded the other two. At check-in, the man didn't speak English and called someone I assume was the owner. I have no problem using a translator. What bothered me was him throwing my ID back into the tray like my being there was an inconvenience. I've traveled all my life, and this was the most unsafe and worst hotel I've ever seen or stayed at. Steer clear.

My room smelled like mold, likely from the leaky AC, which made a loud rasping sound as soon as we entered. The TV screen had a large round crack. The mattress was yellow-brown and stained at every corner, with a bed cover full of holes. There were dead bugs across the sheets, and gnats were landing on my fountain drink before I could unpack and eat. The toilet seat was stained, with dirty water in the bowl. Room 112 on the second floor was where I stayed. The place was disgusting throughout, with what felt like too many health code violations. If I could give zero stars, I would. Don't waste your money here. This place should be shut down. People were hanging around by the entrance yelling at each other, and I could hear them through the weak, hollow walls. When I arrived Friday night for my booking, no one was at check-in. On the fifth ring, someone said, "5 minutes." When he finally came, his shirt was half on and his belly was showing. After processing my stay, he said there was a $10 deposit. I handed him a $20 bill, and he said he'd give me the change tomorrow. I asked for it then, and he argued before finally throwing it down.

We give this motel a solid 10. The room was spotless, down to the floor, and my white socks stayed white. The shower looked new, with none of the mildew you often find in other motels. It's a rare thing to find this level of cleanliness. The desk returned our deposit, and the people were friendly. The parking lot was clean and felt safe, with no riffraff, so I didn't have to check on my car every hour. I promise you won't feel ripped off and you'll have a good experience. We had no more money until the next day, and ended up sleeping beside a 7-Eleven. When we arrived, they tried to give us a one-bed room with no TV for four people, then wanted to charge an extra $20 per person. They stole our money. Karma is real, and God will punish people like this. Do not rent here.
