Southern Lodge

I was working at the hospital with bad weather coming, and I didn't want to be away from my dog. This place worked out perfectly. They allow dogs in the back, and the room was clean, smelled great, and had no bugs when I checked. The staff were really friendly. Breakfast was fine for what the room cost: cereal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, three juices, and coffee. I was happy with the food, the price, and the quality.

The service was great from check-in through check-out, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and smelled nice. We had a great stay at Southern Lodge on 601. Definitely worth coming back, and I will. 10/10!

We left at 7am hungry and wanting coffee, without a receipt. The front doors were still locked at 6:30, the foyer was dark, and nobody was around. The emergency number said staff wouldn't arrive until 9am, or we could wait for the receipt. I was told I could get it by email, but by Tuesday I still had nothing. When I called, they said they weren't set up for email receipts and would mail one. It's Saturday now and it still hasn't arrived. That capped off a frustrating stay. We arrived Saturday at the 3p.m. check-in time, but our room wasn't ready because only one person was cleaning rooms. Sunday's continental breakfast was just bread, bagels, and cereal, with no meat, eggs, or fruit. After dinner that evening our keys wouldn't work. Luckily it was only 7 p.m., since the doors lock at 11 p.m. and no staff would be available until morning. The TV remote was hard to use, the microwave clock wouldn't set properly, and it took half an hour to figure out the bedside clock alarm. We laugh about it now, but it was an unwelcome hassle at the time. We don't recommend staying here unless you're ready to be disappointed. UPDATE: Feb. 2, 2026 We’ll be in the area again soon and plan to check out your lodge before deciding whether to stay another time. Hope things HAVE changed!

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, and everyone on staff was so nice. I really appreciated their help making things easier for my handicap mother so she wouldn't have to take the steps.
