Super 8 by Wyndham Orangeburg North

I've stayed here off and on for 2 years and never had a bad situation. Rick takes pride in looking after customers, and if there's an issue with a room or other guests, call him and he'll deal with it right away. Compared with other hotels I've stayed at in Orangeburg, I've always felt safe. There are video cameras everywhere, and I know they turn away “shady customers.” This is a good place for travelers and people working out of town. Most bad reviews, to me, come from haters expecting a 5 star hotel at an economically priced place. I've never seen bugs in my room unless I left the door open and they flew or crawled in. In southern South Carolina there are lots of insects, but not bedbugs, roaches, fleas, etc. The pool was permanently closed after unauthorized users created a liability issue. If you're upset about it, remember it was closed for your safety.

Everything about this place sucked. My mom and I stayed here in May 2021, and I saw several cockroaches outside as soon as we arrived. Just before bed, a huge one was crawling up the wall toward the ceiling. I barely slept. The toilet also quit working because its chain broke.

The beds were comfortable, the pillows were good, and it was a very quiet place to stay. But the pool was filled in with concrete and there was no breakfast. Each room had one very small trash can, the blow dryer didn't work, and neither did the bathroom fan. The candy in the vending machines was 4 months out of date. I saw that the pool and such were all in useable.

Don't waste your money. The place was filthy and they wouldn't offer a refund or discount. The floors looked like someone had mopped with a dirty mop. My son had to wash his feet before he could get into bed after getting up to use the restroom. There weren't any cups for him to use when he wanted coffee. No amenities of any kind. The A/C worked great, and it was quiet. The bathroom water was hot, which was a plus. We still couldn't gain excess to the lobby.
