The room had no ventilation, and there wasn’t a window I could open without risking someone getting in. I couldn’t get out fast enough to breathe. The TV was small and didn’t work at first, though I managed to fix it. Everything felt old and neglected, from the furniture to the strange shower curtains that looked like something from the 80s. The tub was dirty, and the tabletops and lamps were dusty. I had to wipe the tables with my own wet wipes. There was a dead fly, gnats, and a huge spider. A used washcloth was sitting on top of the shower curtain. When I pulled it down, bugs and yellowish flakes came with it. The towels were crusty and yellow, the pillows smelled like a thousand sweaty heads, and the bedding reeked of mold, mothballs, and a nursing home. The room also had a strong mold smell, partly masked by those cheap air fresheners. It was so foul I skipped washing my hair just to avoid staying in the room any longer. I have a headache writing this. It looked charming outside, but inside it felt like my great grandpa’s filthy old house that he never fixed up. They charged over $200 a night, though it felt worth $40 at best. The parking lot was empty, while the woman at the front desk claimed the rooms were almost full. What a hellish night.

We had a wonderful time here for the rose parade, and we’ll be back. Diane was great when helping me reserve our rooms, and the rest of the staff were wonderful too. The continental breakfast was fantastic, and there are lots of good restaurants nearby. The rooms are simple, but just right.

The pool is the standout, with a retro feel, tall palm trees, and tables around it. Our room opened right onto the pool through a back door. It was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. The room smelled nice too. The motor lodge is in a nice spot and easy to get in and out of.

There are plenty of good places to eat within walking distance, and the breakfast had enough choices to keep my family happy, even if it wasn’t lavish. This is my usual place when I’m near Pasadena. It’s a secluded motor hotel centered around a pool, across the street from Pasadena college. The rooms are a bit dated, but otherwise fine.

We stayed just one night, and it did what we needed. The place is quaint, vintage, and very clean, and the pool is right outside the door. The TV could be bigger. It’s also on the Rose Parade route, with lots of tasty food nearby and a vintage Mediterranean bakery close by.
