The owners are around all the time, and they were friendly, sharp, professional, and attentive. I stayed three nights at the Tides Inn in late April 2025, and the inside was sparkling clean and thoroughly updated. The outside might make you think you've arrived at a dump, but step in before judging. It's two connected buildings, one dating to the early 1960s and the other, I believe, to the early 1970s. This is a family-run place, not a big chain, so a comparison to a franchise with a linen-napkin breakfast buffet wouldn't be fair. The rooms are clean, towels fresh, showers hot, beds comfortable, and Wi-Fi reliable. If I get back to Petersburg, I'll stay at the Tides Inn again.

Adam at the morning desk deserves a shout-out. I left my wallet behind, and he cheerfully brought it to me at the airport. I spent a night here after finishing repair work on the airport's x-ray equipment. The building looks unassuming from outside, but inside it's pleasant and restful, with friendly staff, spotless rooms, complimentary breakfast, and coffee available around the clock. The rate was very good, and they also offer an airport shuttle. I'll stay here again on future trips to the area.

The lobby was a comfortable place to unwind, with a kitchen, ice machine, TV, tables, chairs, and a sofa. My adult daughter and I also had fun with the board games in our room, which are available for guests to use from the lobby. I liked the hotel's retro style, and our stay in Petersburg was comfortable and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out, and when we asked for local recommendations. Everything was clean.

The harbor side can be a little noisy, but it didn't bother me. The bed was super comfortable, the staff were really friendly, and the room and bathroom were nice and clean. It was much better than I expected. I'd definitely recommend it and stay again.
