The location worked well, and the housekeeping team were all friendly and helpful. The regional art and decor were impressive, too. The power outage was the real problem. It was planned a day or two ahead, but no one told us at check-in. We only found a paper notice under the door, and not everyone in our wedding group got one. There was no email or other communication. During the outage we couldn't get into our room, and one staff member said there wasn't much they could do. Before we finally reached Cody, we spoke with several staff who didn't know about the outage. Cody was great and helped get one night comped, which I appreciated. For a hotel at this price, communication should be much better, especially about an emergency in the middle of the night. I was pretty disappointed by how it was handled, and glad we were able to get the night's charge covered.

The location was very convenient for food, shopping, and nearby attractions, and I’ve generally had good experiences with Marriott properties. Still, the stay was more disruptive than I expected for the price. Renovation noise started early each morning, the pool was closed, and the water unexpectedly stopped while I was showering one morning. I was in town for a continuing education course, so the daytime training made those interruptions harder to deal with. The room was clean but felt a bit dated, and hallway doors and conversations came through more than expected. Front desk staff were friendly and responsive when I raised concerns; restaurant service, by comparison, was slow and inconsistent. The hotel team followed up and credited my stay, which I appreciated. A heads-up about the renovations and possible disruptions would have made a big difference. It wasn’t a terrible visit, just not what I expected to get for the cost.

Ebay, the bar manager, along with Monica and Javier in food management, gave our event great support over both days. Meals came out promptly, matched our BEO, and tasted delicious. Alyssa Dela Vara also deserves a special mention for her attention to detail and hospitality. She and the rest of the team made our group feel valued, and we wish more hotels had people like her. This was our second event at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel, and we continue to enjoy having it as a venue. We’ll definitely return for more events! The woman who works in the lounge is an absolute angel. She’s so sweet and deserves a raise. I didn’t feel very welcome as a titanium member, though. Yesterday someone forgot to add lounge access to my room key, and when it failed this morning, the front desk attendant wouldn’t fix it without seeing my ID. I offered to provide all my information because I didn’t want to go back up to the 18th floor to get it. Her attitude wasn’t great, and the whole interaction left me underwhelmed by the hospitality at the desk.

The lobby looks beautiful, the restaurant was good, and the location was great. But the noise made this one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. I was here for nine nights for a big conference, with construction right outside my window. On two nights there were reverse beeps that sounded like an alarm and loud banging all night. Then, on the first day I had a few hours to relax, there was constant drilling through the afternoon from the room next door or somewhere nearby. It’s a decent hotel, but that was a miserable stay.
