The carpet was filthy with black stains, and the room was supposed to be non-smoking, but there was nothing outside marking it that way like other non-smoking rooms had. There was an ashtray inside, plus burns on the bedding and floor. It's a pretty rough area, and I believe the reviews. I knew check-in was at 2, but I offered to pay extra just so my son from the Navy could leave his vehicle in the lot while we all went in mind. They said no. The hotel a block down was full, but let us park there for free. Service here wasn't good.

I had a pleasant stay at Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and was fine with the charge for that room. But I was also charged twice for Portsmouth, Virginia, for the same night, 5/27/16, $64.99 and $74.09. I hadn't stayed at the Portsmouth VA hotel that night. There'd been a booking error, with the reservation made for Portsmouth, New Hampshire instead of Virginia. As soon as we learned of the mistake, we called the Portsmouth VA location directly and canceled it. Now I can't get a call back from the manager, Victor Patel.

The room was in rough shape. The bathroom was dirty, there was no soap, rags, or towels, and the blankets had holes. The worker didn't even want to give us clean rags and towels. The plugs didn't work, and there was no cable or WiFi. The furniture was old, and the bed frame stuck out too far, so my baby hit her leg on it. I had to buy pillows and covers myself. While I was putting my things in the car, the cleaning people went into the room even though I still had stuff inside, and no one asked if we were getting ready to leave. I hope they close it down.

I'm going elsewhere tonight. The room had no soap, damp towels, a clogged sink, and a blanket with burn holes. The WiFi didn't work, the ATM was broken, and the HBO bill hadn't been paid. The non-smoking rooms smelled like smoke. The front door had been broken in and patched with a warped repair, but the lock still wasn't fixed. The door stop was broken off and just lying on the floor. The bathroom door had also been broken into, with wood chips still on the floor. Places should fine people who smoke in rooms so they can get them professionally cleaned afterward, and maybe add a little extra to the fine for motel revenue.
