Econo Lodge Rawlins

We stayed here a few months ago and it was nice, but this time was a disaster. They charged our card twice, with the second charge $30.00 higher, and only wanted to refund the smaller amount. Then we were told we'd have to wait an hour for a manager. When we got very upset, they gave us a key card, but the room hadn't been cleaned. We eventually got a clean room, only to find that the TV remote didn't work and the phone couldn't call the front desk.

There was no hot water for two days, and they couldn't honor the reservation we'd made for two rooms. They made a huge deal of it, and the guy working that night was very disrespectful. After we waited an hour to check in, they said they could put us in a three-bed room. Then we found the microwave didn't work, the freezer wouldn't freeze anything, the bathroom was gross, orange water and dirt droplets covered the ceiling, and the shower didn't look clean. They'd kicked someone out of a room so we could stay there. Absolutely insane. This hotel deserves zero stars, the worst stay I've ever had, even though I thought I'd seen the worst. You don't check in here, you have to go to another hotel across the street and a bit up the road. If your key stops working, you have to go to the Quality Inn to get it fixed, because the men working here don't speak or understand English very well.

I booked through Hotels.com, but the hotel was overbooked and couldn't accommodate my husband, who was stranded because of a snowstorm. They were extremely rude on the phone, and wouldn't answer Hotels.com emails or calls to approve a refund. We had a horrendous experience, and I absolutely don't recommend this hotel.

I usually don't leave negative reviews, but I felt I had to this time. The front counter just had a sign telling us to go to the Quality Inn a block away for service. Check-in was okay, and the room looked acceptable at first. Then I found mouse droppings in the tub and a jungle of cobwebs behind the front door. I tried telling the receptionist, who just stared blankly at me. I included a couple of photos.
