The Strathallan Rochester Hotel & Spa, Tapestry by Hilton

The gym was such a great surprise, easily the best hotel gym I've ever used. It has loads of space and far more than a couple treadmills and dumbbells up to 50 lbs, including kettlebells, sleds, a Hammer strength square rack, several benches, a Peleton bike, an Echelon mirror, and more. The hotel had just undergone renovations and looked lovely, clean, and well run, with exceptional staff. I stayed one night while visiting my sons in Rochester. A real treat, and I'll definitely be back!

Downtown Rochester looks great from the rooftop bar. The hotel's hours work well for weeknights, so it's worth a visit. It's nearing the end of an update, and I happened to get one of the old-style rooms. Mine was spacious, clean, and had modern features like streaming services. I had a great time during my stay.

We had breakfast at Char, the onsite restaurant, and the coffee was great, which isn't always the case with hotel coffee. The food was yummy too. Our suite was comfortable, and although the interior is being updated, it barely affected us. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. No complaints at all, and we'll definitely stay again. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished improvements.

I'm incredibly disappointed. We booked months ahead and called several times in the weeks and days before arriving, but nobody mentioned that construction was underway or that many services weren't available. There was no prorate either. The experience felt like a scam because the truth was withheld. Right now it feels like a $90/night place, which is definitely not what we're paying.
