Holiday Inn Express & Suites Rock Hill by IHG

The coffee downstairs was hot and made from freshly ground beans, and I loved the new coffee makers. Check-in and checkout were quick and easy, and the woman at the front desk was very nice and friendly. The bed was comfortable, everything from the room to the hotel grounds was clean, and the shower had great pressure and temperature. The TV was very large. Excellent stay.

The thing that bothered me most was being told that all HIE hotels were getting rid of their Kuerigs for Costa coffee makers in the lobby. We stayed at another HIE the following night, and its manager said they were keeping the Kuerigs because guests like having them in their rooms. I hate being lied to. We’d stayed here before and it had been fine, but this visit was disappointing. The first room was right by the highway. As a Diamond Elite member, I expected a quieter room at the back, so I asked about the location and requested a change when the woman confirmed it was near the road. The replacement room was at the back, but it had no Kuerig. My husband and I like making coffee in the room after dinner, and I don’t want to get dressed, go down from the fourth floor, and carry coffee back up as it gets cold. Rock Hill won’t see me again. I used to stop here to get past Charlotte.

Breakfast wasn’t ready on time any of the mornings, which is a real problem at a hotel where many guests leave early for work. I also had someone come into my room to make the bed and bring towels, even though I had the sign on the door. The room was only okay, not as clean as I’d have liked. There were crumbs and dirt on the nightstand, and the bathroom floor needed sweeping or vacuuming. I’ll try somewhere else next time.

Work brings me to town, and staying here feels like staying with family. The whole team deserves credit, from housekeeping and the front desk to AGM-Shannon, whose bright smile and fun, easy conversation stand out. GM Stacy is always quick and courteous when resolving issues. I can’t say enough about these people. Give this welcoming group a chance on your next stay. Being right off the interstate is another big plus for me.
