We booked this place for Aftershock because it was close to the venue, but the stay was awful. We reserved a two bed room and were given one, then asked to pay $200 extra. We paid, but the TV was smashed, and there was no microwave, coffee pot, or trash can. Our friend's TV worked, but their microwave had no plate and their fridge was broken. We had no hot water, dead bugs on the floor, and live bugs in our friend's room. We stayed because it was Aftershock and we couldn't find another room in the area at that price. The woman running the hotel wasn't friendly. They told us to keep running the water to get hot water, but it never came. We asked about it three times, and she hung up twice. Finally she said they didn't have any, then went on a screaming rage. Wild hotel. We won't be back. Save your money and go somewhere else.
I posted this review six years ago, but later the one star was still there while my review had disappeared. My husband and I checked into our room, and when I sat down in the bathroom, a cockroach fell from the ceiling into my pants and around my ankles. I pulled them off, shook the bug out, got another pair, and we checked out immediately. The staff seemed surprised, but we didn't argue. We went straight to another hotel. We tried to get a refund, but the manager avoided us for a while and eventually we gave up.
The room looked shabby, and the pictures I submitted show only a few of its problems. I didn't see bedbugs on the sheets and blankets, which had holes, or on the bed or floor. Three of the five towels had blood stains. The air conditioner barely cooled the room. Standing in front of it isn't worth the concussion risk when you turn around toward the door. The bathroom had been remodeled, but the shower curtain rail wasn't installed right, and the screws floated in their sockets on one side. Outside the bathroom window, with no screen, a large electrical cable was hanging there. I was tempted to pull it, but knew better. I feel bad for the owners, except they're responsible for this.
The price looked tempting, but this room wasn't worth the risk. I found bed bugs as soon as I entered, and they offered another room, where I found them again. I booked another hotel at the last minute rather than stay. Bringing bed bugs home could cost thousands. They refuse refunds for any reason, which makes sense if, as I suspect, 75% of their customers ask for one. I attached a photo and video, but found more bugs than those show. I wouldn't stay in the room any longer.
The downtown Sacramento location is perfect, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. We often stay at Wyndham properties, and this was by far the worst one. We had to push hard to open the door after unlocking it. The room smelled awful, and the bedcovers were disgusting, with cigarette burns, holes in the comforter, and hair. The sheets underneath were terrible too, so after 16 hours on the road we got blankets from the car to avoid sleeping directly on the bed. In the morning, the floor was dirty, there were dead roaches, the bathroom door wouldn't close, and the toiletries left for us had been opened. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the room.
