SpringHill Suites by Marriott Salt Lake City Sugar House

I had to come here in an emergency because of a nationwide computer reset, and the people and place have been amazing. From the second I walked in, literally trying a locked door because I thought it would open, every staff member treated me with the utmost respect. The breakfast is amazing, the people are amazing, and the establishment is amazing. The area is exquisite.

There are several places right in the same parking lots, including Target, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, and a few others. Staff were friendly and breakfast had lots of options. My room was very clean and spacious, with a seating area and even a small walk-in closet to keep your things out of the way.

We chose the hotel for its Sugar House location, and the building looked new and well maintained, but we heard everything: doors slamming, toilets flushing, voices and TVs next door, plus highway noise. Sound insulation seems to have been skimped on. Staff at the desk were another concern. During our four-night stay, we saw someone there exactly twice. On our first call about noise from the next room, nobody answered; the next time it took 20 rings. With so few people at the desk, we worried about security. After we mentioned these issues in the checkout survey, the manager emailed that they would try to improve. Maybe they will, but we won’t be back.

I went elsewhere and found a room at a much friendlier, more helpful hotel. At this one, the woman at the registration desk was dismissive and didn’t help when I asked whether she could look up my loyalty membership using my name or email. She said I’d have to figure it out myself, and that I couldn’t book without being a member. Not a good experience.
