You get what you pay for. I was in a non-smoking room, but there was a cigarette butt in the toilet and a plastic bag over the smoke detector, so the previous guest had obviously smoked. I know that’s not the hotel’s fault, but walking into a room where it hadn’t been cleaned up was a bummer. The sheets and towels were very stained. I’m sure they’d been washed, but it still wasn’t ideal. If you’re visiting someone at Goodfellow or just in town briefly, spend a little extra and stay at the Quality Inn down the road.

When we were leaving, I asked them to hold my bike until I came back for it. The manager left it in the lobby in front of the camera, but someone took it without permission. It was my only way to get to work, and now I don’t have a job because it was stolen. I know who took it and spoke to the guy; he said he’d get my bike back, but when I went to collect it, it was one of the maintenance guys’ bikes. Be careful leaving your things or asking someone to hold them for you. You may not get them back.

The room was clean, but it was missing some basics: no coffee maker in the kitchenette-style room, no small shampoo or conditioner bottles, and no bag for dirty laundry. The toilet paper holder was broken and lying on the floor.

The rooms were dirty, the lights didn’t work, and there were roaches. When I asked to cancel or get my money back, the front desk staff didn’t want to help. My card hadn’t been charged yet, but when I pointed that out, the employee charged it while I was standing there.
