Candlewood Suites San Antonio Lackland AFB Area by IHG

The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and everyone on staff was really kind and helpful. If you're heading to Lackland AFB, the nearby gates make getting onto the base easy. I'd happily stay here again.

This hotel turned a terrible start to our family trip for BMT graduation into a really positive stay. The Airbnb I’d booked online was a nightmare, and the neighborhood felt unsafe, so I called Candlewood Suites to ask about a room. Mauricio confirmed there was one available and was upfront that the area might not look very safe. It actually looked much better than where we’d come from. He explained the security setup: one entrance door, two parking entrances with one closed at night, overnight security, and cameras covering the property. He even suggested we arrive safely and finish booking in person. When we got there, Mauricio checked us in quickly, pointed out good places to park, and showed us how the cameras covered the lot. He also brought the pack n play we needed right up to our room. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable, with very comfortable beds. The staff were friendly, and you could see them taking care of the building throughout the day, including the outside grill. The laundry was handy, the gym equipment looked great, and the lending area had a homey feel. We borrowed some movies and a DVD player. I’d highly recommend staying here, and if I return, it’ll be the first place I look at.

The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly. Inside, I never heard other guests opening or closing doors or making noise. The area around the hotel felt sketchy, though we didn’t feel unsafe walking from the car to the building. It was easy to get to the gate for our graduation on base, and there are fast food places nearby. If you visit the ALAMO, be careful where you park. San Antonio is like a predator with their tow trucks. I’m glad I won’t have to visit this area again. I’d recommend the hotel, but not a visit to San Antonio.

The bathroom looked almost new and was spotless, and the beds were comfortable. We had to park farther back, but the security guard was very nice and drove around. These were the cleanest hotel rooms we’ve ever stayed in.
