The rooms are fine, and the bathroom was nicer than I expected, with a decent-sized sink and counter and an extra-large shower. The TVs are updated smart models, so it’s easy to connect your accounts or streaming services. The property is close to grocery and convenience stores, money services like check cashing and banking, and downtown is only minutes away. There are several bus stops right outside. There’s no deposit, but the price feels high for what you get. I can find an equally nice room in an equally questionable neighborhood for nearly half the price a couple of miles away, and closer to the Frost Bank Center. They also charge 25 cents each time you fill the little ice holder. It’s not much money, but I’ve never seen a hotel charge for the ice machine. My biggest issue was that the door didn’t actually lock. It sounded like it latched, but I could reopen it without a key, no matter how long I waited. I told the office right away. They asked if the deadbolt worked, which it did, and decided that meant there wasn’t a problem. I was worried about leaving my belongings unsecured. The staff member said he’d keep an eye on my room and check the handle, but I never saw him again and he never came by. I ended up taking my important things everywhere. Smh.

The neighborhood is pretty dull, though the location is handy and close to downtown. My room was spacious and fairly clean, and the owner was helpful and flexible. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to add a third night, and they offered to leave my things in the room until I left. I stayed two nights this week, and it was good value for the money. I’d highly recommend the place.

For a downtown stay under $100, this place turned out to be a real find. We were there for the weekend, and housekeeping left us fresh towels and cleaned the room each day. The owners were warm and helpful, especially the wife. When I brought up a problem, the husband came by himself and helped sort it out. My son did call the place “creepy” when we first drove up, but for the price, location, and look of it, I’d happily stay here again when I need a budget spot downtown.

We were glad to find a comfortable place to sleep just over a mile from downtown after a terrible stay at the Motel 6 on Rittiman. The neighborhood wasn’t the best, though the property felt tucked away from it. It was clean and looked well kept, with no intimidating loitering and an unofficial guard dog on site. The owners were around, helpful, and clearly attentive to security. The room had a microwave, mini fridge, very cold AC, lots of cable channels, Wi-Fi, and the usual soaps. The bed was comfortable, and the sheets and towels were clean. Even the pillowcases had creases. It’s dated, there’s only one route up and down to the second floor, and there’s no coffee maker, but those weren’t major issues for us. We took a cheap Lyft downtown for dinner the first night, then spent most of the next day sightseeing and got back around 8:30. On our last morning I ran to the expressway and back, then chatted with the owner in the parking lot while cooling down. His shepherd mix stayed calm and followed his commands, though I didn’t get too close since she didn’t know me. Seeing management gather linens from rooms being vacated was a refreshing change from our previous place. It’s a modest establishment, but I’d stay again in a heartbeat.

The room was a pleasant surprise. My boyfriend had been upset with me for booking after he saw the motel, but opening the door changed his mind right away. Everything inside looked newly renovated and furnished. The bed was on the firm side but still comfortable, and we didn’t see any bedbugs or roaches, which we often run into at motels. The owners were kind, too, and made check-in and checkout easy. We had a great, comfortable stay.
