It worked as a bed for one night, and the AC did clear up the stale air in the room. But getting in and out was difficult, especially when going to dinner and coming back. The hall smelled like moth balls. We had no towels at check-in, and the front desk brought two small ones. After I discussed it with the woman who brought them, she reluctantly gave us two more. I wouldn't recommend this property.
I found this listed as a 3 star hotel near the base, with decent pricing, so I thought it'd suit me for trips back and forth without much driving. I was wrong. On day two, I heated my coffee and found a dead cockroach floating in the cup. Then I looked inside the microwave and saw baby cockroaches running around. I didn't touch it again. I was due to check out the next day and didn't ask to change rooms, but at 4 am I woke up and found them again in the sink and bathroom. I'm glad I checked out, though now I have to sanitize my bags and everything in them. I didn't try breakfast because I can't trust the kitchen it came from. Beware of this place.
We landed around 12 AM after several hours on the airplane, but left ten minutes after arriving because the room had bedbugs everywhere. The front desk refused a refund and offered another room instead. We didn't want to stay in a hotel with bedbugs, because where there's one room, there are more worms. It was awful. We had to find another hotel in the middle of the night so we could sleep in peace somewhere clean and without bed bugs. I wouldn't recommend this place. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
The location made it easy to get around, especially to the Frost Bank Center, and the breakfast was modest but enough to start the day. The mattresses were comfortable, the staff quite nice, and the accommodation was clean. We had an excellent stay at Quality Inn & Suites I-35. We'll stay here again next time we're in San Antonio to enjoy the Riverwalk.
The worst part came at checkout: the woman at the front desk refused to return our deposit because they "smelled smoke". Neither my wife nor I smoke. I made a scene in the lobby, and they finally gave me my $100 back. I'm sure they try this move a lot and sometimes get away with it. The rooms were nasty, smelled unpleasant, and half the light switches didn't work. The coffee pot was coated in mold and bacteria, every vending machine was broken, and the ice machine was disgusting. “Breakfast” was disappointing and not very fresh. Everyone I dealt with at the front desk was rude, inhospitable, hard to understand, and barely helpful. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here. I wish I could give this motel zero stars.
