TownePlace Suites by Marriott San Antonio Westover Hills

After we got home, my son developed symptoms. We took him to the same daycare, where he was diagnosed with scabies. If you have young kids who play on the floor, I’d avoid this hotel. The cleanliness and how the situation was handled were upsetting and concerning. We’d driven 3.5 hours and arrived a little after 10 PM. After checking in, we went to get dinner and didn’t actually enter the room until later. It was immediately clear there were problems: dirty curtains and curtain skirt, a dirt ring around the tub, ceiling stains, an unpleasant smell, and hair on the bed. The night audit employee said we’d already been checked into the room since 10 PM, as if we’d waited to complain. I explained we’d only picked up the keys before dinner. Since the hotel was sold out, they gave us flat sheets to put over the bedding instead of moving us right away. We contacted Marriott customer service, but were told all the hotels were completely sold out. We tried a couple of other places nearby, though some could only take us for certain days of our stay. Eventually we moved to another room. I emailed the hotel manager Dom about the concerns, followed up by email and left a voicemail, but never got a response. The online photos are misleading. Here are more up-to-date photos of the hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE UNTIL THIS ESTABLISHMENT THROWS AWAY ALL CARPET AND LINEN!

Garrett was especially helpful when we asked to switch rooms. In the first one, I found a roach on the bathroom wall and killed it, and there were dead ones by the stove. I always look around before bringing in my luggage, so we asked to move. The second room was better, though it smelled enough that we bought air freshener. The carpets could use a deep cleaning, and the areas behind the fridge and stove could be cleaner. Staff were helpful otherwise, and the location is convenient, close to the expressway.

The shuttle driver was cool. We watched a football game together and had a good time seeing my team win. Go Seahawks! The hotel has a complimentary shuttle anywhere within a 5 mile radius, which worked well with SeaWorld so close by. My room had a small kitchen area with what I needed for a short stay. Breakfast ran from 7 to 10am, with plenty to take back to the room, and there’s also a little snack bar. The staff were very nice and it was a nice hotel. I’ll stay again on our next SeaWorld trip.

Just off 151, so it’s easy to get around town from here. I’ve stayed several times over the past few years and have always had a great experience. Staff are prompt and friendly, and the rooms are spacious, with a full fridge and small stove.
