Cow Hollow Inn & Suites

There’s no breakfast, but several places to eat right opposite. The rooms are spacious, clean, and the bathrooms tidy, and the location makes getting around to attractions easy with public transport. I liked my stay at Cow Hollow Inn. Just don’t count on early check-in, and confirm your timing so you’re not left waiting. I had to fill time before the room was ready, so I walked the SF Bay Trail. It was a pleasant walk with little harbor views, and I even saw seals. The nearby Philz Coffee truck is within walking distance too. Pick up a day pass for easier travel around the area.

I stayed four nights and couldn’t check in early, though staff let me leave my suitcase until the room was ready. They were somewhat courteous. I’d booked a spacious, clean king room facing Lombard street, and that first night I barely slept. The street is extremely noisy all night. The next day I asked about it, and staff said I could book a room on Steiner for an extra $25 a night. I asked to speak with the manager, who wasn’t on site. They had no room available right then and said they couldn’t call me when one opened because they had too many guests to deal with. I left that morning, and the manager did call, which was great. I was able to move rooms, but it wasn’t much quieter. Earplugs and a sound machine app on my phone helped. They should add soundproof windows at the next renovation. When booking, use their website and call with questions about your stay.

Affordable and pretty good, with a great location. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The gated underground garage is especially useful in San Francisco for keeping your car and luggage safe. Highly recommended!

We’d definitely come again. The place was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with a great location and amazing local restaurants. Free parking was a nice bonus, and booking through Hotels.com was seamless. We were there midweek during the December holidays, so it was fairly busy.
