Gaylord Suites

I came back in 2022 after moving out in 2018 when my roommates’ lease ended. I’d lived here in 2016, before Covid, and the location and the building’s architecture had stuck with me so much that I’d always hoped to return. It’s a walker’s paradise, with a short walk to BART and Union Square, a bus stop right across the street, and Lyft rental bikes outside. There’s also onsite laundry with card readers and a tucked-away library. Yoli, the building owner, is a stand-up guy. We’ve had some new building managers lately, and they’ve been great about keeping things in order and tenants safe, especially from the outside riff raff. I haven’t had any problems with them. They’re upbeat, which is really heartwarming. My current neighbors seem quiet and friendly. Of all the apartments I’ve lived in, this has been the best one by far.

I was happy living at 620 jones, and Merdian management group seems like a solid company with lovely buildings and generally high tenant satisfaction. My main concern is their handling of security deposits. It took six weeks after I moved out to get mine back, and they need to do better about returning deposits on time. The building manager was very sorry they’d been hard to reach and was helpful toward the end. If you rent from them, you could run into communication problems, but I wouldn’t rule them out. They’re not scammers.

The room was really comfortable, and having a 24-hour doorman made the place feel safe. The staff were very nice, too. They’d help hold mail and any boxes for you.

A historic building in lower nob hill, with friendly staff and great tenants. Highly recommended as a long-term rental.
